At New Again Detailing, we don’t just clean vehicles—we restore them. Recently, we worked on a 2012 GMC Sierra 1500 that had definitely earned its keep. The paint was dull, the trim was faded, and the entire exterior needed serious attention. But with the right process and some professional care, we were able to bring this truck back to a clean, polished, and refreshed look.
Step 1: Full Wash & Clay Bar Decontamination
We started the job with a complete hand wash, making sure to safely remove surface dirt, grime, and old buildup. From there, we used a clay bar treatment to extract deeply embedded contaminants that don’t come off with regular washing. This left the paint surface clean, smooth, and ready for correction.
Step 2: Faded Door Panel Trim Removal
One of the standout issues on this Sierra was the faded, color-matched trim along the door panels. Over time, this trim had become discolored and chalky, no longer blending with the rest of the body like it was originally designed to.
Rather than trying to restore the faded trim, we chose the better long-term solution: full removal. This gave the truck a cleaner side profile and eliminated one of the biggest signs of exterior aging.
Step 3: One-Step Cut & Polish
With the surface prepped and the trim removed, we moved on to a one-step cut polish. This step corrected oxidation, swirl marks, and light scratches, restoring shine and clarity to the original paint without needing multiple passes.
The difference was dramatic—the paint looked deep, reflective, and consistent across the entire body.
Step 4: Window Cleaning for a Crisp Finish
To finish the detail, we cleaned all the windows and mirrors inside and out, removing streaks, smudges, and any leftover residue for a crystal-clear view. It’s a small step that makes a big difference in the overall presentation.
Final Results: Clean, Corrected, and Trim-Free
This 2012 Sierra went from dull and dated to clean and confident. With the faded trim gone, the paint polished, and all surfaces properly detailed, it now looks like a truck with plenty of life—and style—left in it.
